FG to increase VAT, other taxes to pay new minimum wage

Federal Government is to increase Value Added Tax by 50 per cent to pay the new national minimum wage, Bugdet and National Planning Minister Udo Udoma said Tuesday. Mr Udoma said the raise, first announced by chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr Babatunde Fowler, will create the required funds to meet the new wage obligation being approved by National Assembly. Akeredolu to rename varsity after ex-Gov

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, says Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), will be renamed after late Mr Olusegun Agagu, former governor of the state. MASSOB condemns post-election killing of Christians by herdsmen

Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned incessant killings in Christian communities in some parts of the country immediately after the general elections. Mrs Olumuyiwa Balogun-Adesanmi, wife of late Mr Pius Adesanmi, has released the statement below about her husband’s death and condolences that have poured in. 8 dead, scores injured, trapped as school collapses in Lagos

Emergency crews sifted through debris as night fell on frantic efforts to rescue scores of school children and others feared trapped inside a three-storey building that collapsed Wednesday in Nigeria’s densely populated commercial capital, Lagos.
