Mr Babafemi Ojudu, a political adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday thanked safety measures and quick response of security personnel for saving himself and 11 others who were in the helicopter that crashed on Saturday. President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for his “resilience” over how he handled the helicopter crash. According to a statement from Mr Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesman, Mr Buhari called the Vice-President on phone and praised him for continuing with campaign activities despite the crash. Ex-senator, Waku is dead

A former Senator, Mr Joseph Waku is dead. According to a family source, Waku died yesterday evening at National Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness. Born on June 12, 1946, Waku was elected Senator representing Benue North-west district at National Assembly in 1999, on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A native of Waku village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, Waku was at the Senate between 1999 and 2003. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo escaped death on Saturday as his helicopter crash-landed in Kogi state, his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, said. Mr Akande in a tweet said, “VP Osinbajo’s Chopper crash lands in Kabba, but he and the entire crew safe. An air charter service, Caverton Helicopter, on Saturday blamed hazy weather conditions for the helicopter crash involving Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. The Lagos-based firm said the incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. in Kabba, Kogi State, confirming earlier account of Mr Osinbajo’s office. Onnoghen loses bid to stop CCT trial

Court of appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed a motion filed by Mr Walter Onnoghen, suspended chief justice of Nigeria, seeking stay of proceedings on his ongoing trial at Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Federal government is prosecuting him for alleged false assets declaration. Onnoghen had approached the court, arguing CCT had no jurisdiction to preside over the case. National Judicial Council has given seven days to suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mr Walter Onnoghen, to respond to a petition written against him.
