What the law says on removal of Chief Justice of Nigeria

The controversial suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mr Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to elicit mixed reactions. In removing Onnoghen, Mr Buhari claimed he acted based on a Code of Conduct Tribunal order. Many Nigerians, however, believe the president has no such powers to remove a Chief Justice of Nigeria from office. Section 292 of the Nigerian constitution deals with the removal of some public officials including CJN. Senate has suspended its plenary untill after next month’s presidential elections. Nigeria’s debt fast approaching pre-2005 Paris Club level, CBN warns

Monetary policy committee of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned that the federal government’s debt levels could be fast approaching the pre-2005 levels. Buhari transmits new minimum wage bill to NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted National Minimum Wage Bill to National Assembly. FG releases N198bn to INEC for elections

Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Mahmood Yakubu, has revealed that the N198 billion budgetary allocation for the funding of the forthcoming general election, has been released to the commission.
