Army general, 3 other officers killed in fierce battle with ISWAP terrorists

A Nigerian army general and three soldiers were killed on Saturday during an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants in the northeast of the country, the army and sources said. ISWAP split from Boko Haram five years ago and pledged allegiance to Islamic State and has been fighting against the Nigerian armed forces. No fewer than four mourners were early Saturday reportedly gunned down by suspected armed herdsmen who stormed a Christian wake at Mbayatyo, Mbater Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area of Benue state. Bandits slaughter village head, eight others in Zamfara

Bandits have slaughtered the village head and killed eight others in Tungar Ruwa in Anka local government area of Zamfara State. The incident occurred at midnight on Wednesday. Jail breaks: Close to 4,000 criminals still on the run - FG

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has revealed that of the 4,860 recorded prisoners who have escaped from various custodial centres nationwide since 2020 to date, 954 have been recaptured; leaving 3,906 on the run.
