Gunmen kill 11 persons in Plateau community

No fewer than 11 persons were reportedly killed on Friday night as Fulani herdsmen attack Ta’agbe village in Miango District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack is coming two days after some herdsmen attacked Ancha village, a neighbouring community and killed two persons. Bandits have reportedly chased residents out of Yan Buki village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State. Seven persons were also reportedly killed and others kidnapped during the attack on the village Thursday afternoon. A Danish frigate has killed four pirates in waters south of Nigeria in an operation to protect shipping in the Gulf of Guinea, the Danish military said on Thursday. A federal judge in Pennsylvania has sentenced a Nigerian man to more than seven years in prison for conspiring to launder approximately $1.89 million in mail and wire fraud proceeds in a scheme that targeted women. Jabin Okpako, 36, and his wife, Christine Bradley Okpako, 54, of Sayre, Pennsylvania, transferred the funds out of the United States to three separate bank accounts in Nigeria, prosecutors said. Kidnappers have killed a man simply identified as Ayuba, and abducted six family members inside a farm at Lagbeta community in Kogi Local Government Area Kogi State. Labgeta community is located on the ever-busy Abuja-Lokoja highway. At least four persons have been confirmed killed by bandits in an attack Sunday night in Barawa in Batagarawa local government area of Katsina State. The community is less than 10 kilometres from Katsina, the state’s capital city. Batagarawa local government headquarters is seven kilometres from the Katsina metropolis. Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state has directed immediate ban on sales of some categories of motorcycles across the state. Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), disclosed this in a statement issued in Minna on Saturday.
