Two personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command, have been shot dead by gunmen. There are indications that six people kidnapped by bandits in University of Abuja staff quarters, on Tuesday, have been rescued successfully. A staff of the University confirmed that the victims were rescued at Abaji, along Abuja-Lokoja expressway, with the help of the Police and local vigilantee. “The rescued victims are currently at the Abaji police station,” the staff said. Gunmen have attacked the residence of a Second Republic Senator and leader of Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), Banji Akintoye who is also a retired professor of history. Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two worshippers at Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state. The worshippers were attacked during the church’s Sunday service. The gunmen were said to have surrounded the church before they started shooting sporadically. A yet to be ascertained number of worshippers were also abducted from the church.
