ISWAP militants attack Borno community, kill two policemen, one soldier

At least two police officers and a soldier have died in a battle with suspected ISWAP terrorists in Malamfatori in Borno State. Malamfatori, located in the Sahara fringes of the state and lacking access roads, is one of the locations in Borno that have been deserted due to the activities of the insurgents. Two personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command, have been shot dead by gunmen. It was gathered that the policemen were attached to Diobu Mile 1 Division, and were reportedly shot dead during a stop-and-search operation at Okija Street in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday night. There are indications that six people kidnapped by bandits in University of Abuja staff quarters, on Tuesday, have been rescued successfully. Gunmen have attacked the residence of a Second Republic Senator and leader of Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), Banji Akintoye who is also a retired professor of history. Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two worshippers at Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state. The worshippers were attacked during the church’s Sunday service. Armed men on motorbikes killed at least 18 people at a mosque in Niger state, two residents told Reuters on Monday. Gunmen blow up jail facilities in Oyo, third of such attacks this year

Gunmen attacked a jail in Oyo State late on Friday and freed over 800 inmates by force, the third such major attack this year, prison service said in a statement on Saturday.
