Bandits moving from village to village kill 30, abduct 7 women in Niger state

There has been tension in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, as villagers around Sarkin Pawa Ward vacate their homes following the invasion of three villages by bandits where no fewer than 30 persons were reportedly killed. Seven women were also kidnaped by the bandits in Sabon Kachiwe. A Local Government official from the affected community who spoke in confidence told our correspondent that the attackers also set ablaze the entire villages, after slaughtering and shooting both men and women on sight. Bandits kill 30 in further attacks in Niger state

Suspected herdsmen kill 9 in fresh attacks on Benue communities

Suspected Fulani herders invaded some communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State and killed nine persons in separate attacks. Gunmen abduct retired Nigerian Air Force chief in Lagos

Gunmen on Monday abducted a retired Air Vice Marshal, Sikiru Smith, in the Ajah area of Lagos. Smith was reportedly abducted while supervising an engineering work on a site in Ajah area of Lagos. Gunmen kill 22 security personnel in Sokoto, says state lawmaker

Gunmen killed at least 22 security personnel at a remote army base in Sokoto state plagued by bandits and kidnappers, a lawmaker said. Food production in Katsina falls 70 percent as bandits impose tax on farmers - Report

As the insecurity occasioned by rural banditry bites harder, some residents of frontline local governments in Katsina State have either abandoned their farms or resorted to forceful payment of taxes to bandits. According to Katsina State Government, some 5,884 farmlands were abandoned due to the attacks. From January to June 2021 alone, according to the government, 23,333 hectares of 2,924 farmlands have been abandoned.
