Nine worshippers have been killed by gunmen in an attack on a mosque at Tungan Ba’are village in Mashegu LGA of Niger state. According to the Niger police command, six other people were injured in the attack that took place on Thursday. Monday-Bala Kuryas, commissioner of police in the state, said the worshippers were killed during morning prayer. He said a primary school teacher was also abducted by the gunmen, adding that those killed were between the ages of 30 and 65. Bandits operating on the Shinkafi-Moriki-Kaura-Namoda Road in Zamfara State have killed no fewer than seven people. Residents of 1000 Housing Estate in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, woke up to an explosion Saturday morning. The explosion believed to have been triggered by Boko Haram fighters sparked tension in the area. Two persons were on Friday killed during an attack by bandits on Ungwan Gimbiya community, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. No fewer than five officials of the Borno State government have been abducted by Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP). Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has confirmed that 10 persons were killed and 252 inmates escaped during the attack by gunmen on Sunday on the Jos Medium Security Custodial Centre.
