Marauding bandits have killed at least 24 people, including the village head and three other traditional title holders, in an early Sunday morning attack in Ganar Kiyawa, a village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Two policemen were killed when armed men in the early hours of Saturday set ablaze the Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. Bandits have killed five and kidnapped four others in Dogon Dawa, Layin Mahuta and Tabanni, in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday arrested former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos. Obiano, who has been on the Commission’s watchlist for months, was arrested at about 8.30pm. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says its operatives have arrested Osondu Igwilo, an alleged leader of a criminal network who has been on the wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since 2018. At least 63 vigilantes from five communities of Kebbi State have been confirmed dead after bandits ambushed them Sunday evening. Traditional rulers of two of the affected communities told BBC Hausa that the vigilantes were ambushed while chasing the bandits who had attacked the communities. Gunmen have attacked the P&F Filling Station, Nnokwa in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing two persons on the spot. The incident happened on Saturday at the filling station, close to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nnokwa.
