Kaduna State Government has advised residents to be vigilant as explosive devices have been planted by terrorists in various parts of the state. The government gave the advice on Monday through a statement by the state commissioner for Internal Security and Homeland Affairs, Samuel Aruwan. Bandits on Monday blocked Minna-Suleja road, around Lambata-Kwakuti, stopping travellers from moving for about two hours. Fifteen persons have been killed in separate attacks on Sabon Gari and Mandaragirau villages in the Damboa and Biu local government areas in the southern part of Borno State. Evans, 2 others get life jail for kidnapping

A Lagos State High Court, Ikeja has convicted and sentenced notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukuwuememe Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans, to life imprisonment for kidnapping. Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court found Evans guilty of a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and kidnapping of the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Limited, Donatus Dunu. Apart from Evans, two other members of his gang were also found guilty by the court for same offence. The two other members of his gang found guilty were Uche Amadi and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the conviction of a former lawmaker, Farouk Lawan, for receiving $500,000 bribe during a legislative probe into the fuel subsidy regime in 2012. But the decision, on Thursday, came as a narrow approval of Lawan’s conviction, as the court discharged and acquitted the former lawmaker on two of the offences he was earlier jailed for by the lower trial court in June last year.
