Ex-CJN Kutigi dies in London

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mr Idris Kutigi, died in a London hospital on Sunday after a brief illness, his eldest son, Sani Kutigi has confirmed. The younger Kutigi confirmed the death in a telephone interview with with our correspondent in Minna on Sunday. “We are making arrangements to transport our father back for burial,” he said. Late Kutigi was born on December 31, 1939 and left behind 18 children and over 40 grandchildren. He was Chief Justice of Nigeria from January 30, 2007 until December 30 2009. Trump to pull US from Russia missile treaty

US will withdraw from a landmark nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, President Donald Trump has confirmed. Nine infractions that informed suspension of NHIS Executive Secretary

Governing Council of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has released a list of infractions that eventually prompted Thursday’s indefinite suspension of embattled Executive Secretary of the Scheme, Mr Usman Yusuf. NHIS boss defies suspension order, resumes at work

Executive Secretary of National Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Usman Yusuf, suspended indefinitely by the governing council of NHIS on Thursday, resumed work on Friday, ignoring resolution of the council. Train mows down crowd at India festival, at least 60 dead

A speeding train ran over a crowd watching fireworks during a religious festival in northern India on Friday evening, killing at least 60 people and injuring dozens more, police said. The train failed to stop after the accident on the outskirts of Amritsar, a city in Punjab state, said the state governing Congress party politician, Pratap Singh Bajwa. FG cuts budget, proposes N8.6tn for 2019

Federal Government on Thursday proposed a smaller budget size of N8.6tn for 2019 fiscal year in contrast to N9.1tn for 2018.
