House of Representatives on Wednesday passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. The passage of the bill by the House comes a day after Senate passed a similar bill. Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has reshuffled chairpersons of some of the House committees. In an announcement on Wednesday, he named Mr Abdulmumin Jibrin, former appropriations committee chairman, to head committee on Land Transport. Jibrin, a former ally of the speaker later fell out with him. He was suspended for over one year from the House for accusing the Dogara leadership of manipulating 2016 budget. The bill was passed after Chairman of Senate Committee on INEC, Mr Suleiman Nazif, presented the report of the review. Curfew declared by Kaduna State government in the aftermath of the violence that rocked parts of the state was relaxed for a few hours on Tuesday. This allowed residents come out to restock their depleted groceries and other needs. The government had declared a 24-hour curfew on the metropolis and environs on Sunday. Court orders police to pay Charly Boy N50m

A Federal High Court in Abuja has on Monday ordered the Nigerian Police Force to pay N50 million to Mr Charles Oputa.
