Governors have announced that states can only afford to raise national minimum wage from N18,000 to N22,500 as against N30,000 being demanded by organised labour. Governors said this after an emergency meeting of Nigeria Governors’ Forum in Abuja late on Tuesday. Power generation in the country plunged to 2,390.20 megawatts on Monday as number of idle power plants rose from seven to 15, according to latest data from Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing. Total electricity generation has been hovering below 4,000MW in recent months and stood at 3,741.30MW as of 6am on Sunday. West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will soon conduct the first series of the West African Senior School certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. This was made known in a press statement by spokesperson of the council, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu The statement also said the examination will be conducted between January and February, 2019. Five members of Shiite Islamic sect were killed yesterday during a clash with the military in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council of Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This in a bid to monitor movements of foreigners in Nigeria.
