Gunmen abduct Taraba NLC chairman

Gunmen on Sunday morning abducted Taraba State Chairman of Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC), Peter Jediel, at his residence at Sunkani in Ardo Kola, Taraba State, reports say. The abduction comes exactly two weeks after the local government chairman of Ardo Kola was abducted and later killed by gunmen. The precinct of a church in Azia community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State was on Thursday night violated when gunmen invaded the worship centre and killed a man whose name was given as Ken Ekwesianya. Kaduna state government says suspected bandits have killed six commuters along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road. Samuel Aruwan, commissioner for internal security and home affairs, in a statement on Friday, said the bandits opened fire on the commuters while running away from “aggressive patrols” by security agencies in the area.
