Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) says 26 members have been arrested by security operatives, over alleged unlawful foreign exchange (FX) transactions. Aminu Gwadabe, president of ABCON, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. On Wednesday, the association’s north-west chapter had demanded immediate release of the members who were arrested on March 9, 2021, by the Department of State Security Services (DSS). A High Court in Akwa-Ibom State, on Thursday, sentenced a Nigerian professor, Peter Ogban, to three years in prison, for election fraud. The court, which found Ogban guilty of fraudulent manipulation of election results, publishing and announcing of false results, also asked the professor to pay N100,000 fine. Armed men have raided residents of Kiyi town in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), abducting at least four persons. Gunmen on Sunday attacked a police station in Mgbakwu in the Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Thirteen people have been killed and seven others injured in a series of attacks in Zangon Kataf, Kauru and Chikun local government areas of Kaduna State. The state’s Commisioner for Internal Security and Homeland Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ court sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday, ordered that the alleged notorious Ibarapa warlord, Abdullahi Wakili, 70, be remanded in a correctional facility. Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday attacked Katarko community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. The gunmen invaded the quarry site along Ijebu-Ode/ Ibadan road and took away Popoola Isaac and Ismail Adeoye, staff of the church and bank respectively.
