Gunmen kill 2 police officers in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom Police Command has confirmed the killing of two of their men by gunmen in the state. They were reportedly gunned down at a checkpoint on Tuesday at Urua Inyang, headquarters of Ika Local Government Area of the state. The gunmen, who came on several motorcycles, opened fire on the policemen forcing some of them to flee. The hoodlums then took away police rifles and burnt their van. A divisional police officer and eight other officers on Sunday lost their lives in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State while repelling an attack by bandits. Gunmen, on Sunday, attacked worshippers at Haske Baptist Church, Manini community, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state. A medical doctor was said to have been killed in the attack, while five persons were abducted. Gunmen kill 8 security men in Rivers

Eight security operatives were reportedly gunned down by unknown armed men, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday night, along the Omagwa/Isiokpo/Elele Owerri road, in the area. Among the security personnel were three soldiers, three from Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and two from the Nigeria Police Force.
