Gunmen kill three in Taraba community

Governor Darius Ishaku’s peace efforts in Taraba State suffered a setback yesterday as armed gunmen reportedly from the neighbouring Benue State killed three persons in the state. The incident took place in Rafinkada village of Wukari Local Council. The attackers allegedly killed two women and an elderly man. Prior to the incident was the gruesome murder of three farmers in the council as they were preparing the soil for the farming season. There was panic in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State again, following the killing of a 56-year-old farmer, Muftau Babarinde in the area. Babarinde was hacked to death by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Orita Merin, Konko village in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state. The Police Command in Oyo on Tuesday, confirmed the abduction of three persons at Onipe village, on Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Road in Oluyole Local Government Area of the State. Four persons were reportedly killed, yesterday, when gunmen attacked a community in Ohauwkwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The attack came barely two weeks after herders attacked the Egedegede community in Ishielu council, killing more than 20 persons. Gunmen had attacked five communities in the state, including Egedege, Obegu, Amazu, Nkalagu and Umuhuali on March 29. A number of persons were reported killed in the attack. Some gunmen on Saturday killed four men at Yar Marafa village in Yar Malami ward in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
