Buhari hosts N’Assembly members to dinner, promises to fight insecurity to standstill

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration will deploy everything within its powers to end insecurity in Nigeria. Buhari spoke on Tuesday during a dinner with members of the National Assembly in Abuja. The meeting was attended by the 109 senators and 360 members of House of Representatives. Nigeria to receive additional 41m doses of Covid-19 vaccines – FG

Federal government has disclosed that it is expecting 41,282,770 doses of Covid-19 vaccines by the end of September 2021. The expected doses are a combination of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, Pfizer-Bio-N Tech/Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (J&J). Three dead as military personnel clash with auto spare parts traders in Lagos

A businessman, identified as Felix, aka Tiger, and two other yet-to-be-identified traders have been shot dead by military officers during a clash with union members and traders at the Aguiyi Ironsi International Trade Centre, in the Paramo area of Ladipo Market, Lagos State. Death toll mounts in South Africa violence over jailed former president

Death toll in South Africa has risen to 72, after violence engulfed parts of the country after the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma. N’Assembly approves N4.8bn to enable FG monitor your phone calls, WhatsApp messages, others

A total of N4.8 (4,870,350,000) billion has been allocated to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to monitor WhatsApp messages, phone calls, text messages, among others. Of the figure, N1.93 billion was earmarked for “WhatsApp Intercept Solution” and N2.93 billion for “Thuraya Intercept Solution” – a communications system used for monitoring voice calls or call-related information, SMS, data traffic, among others. Electricity: FGN to concession TCN, not sell it - BPE

Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) says there is no plan to privatise the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). The bureau had said it was considering a suitable model to unbundle the TCN. In 2013, Nigeria privatised the power sector with the distribution (DisCos) and generation (GenCos) sub-sectors sold to core investors, but the TCN remains wholly owned and operated by the government. The British passport on which the re-arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, purportedly travelled to Kenya, still remains in the East African country, The Guardian of London reported Saturday.
