Two feared killed as security operatives set fire to hotel, house, shops in Imo

Security agents operating in no fewer than 15 vehicles, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier, burnt down a hotel, a residential house and about 15 shops in Orlu, Imo State, on Sunday. The incidents happened at Okporo and Obor communities carved out of Umutanze in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state. Ibadan residents protest against electricity company over poor power supply, high bills

Residents of Ibadan, yesterday, staged a peaceful protest against irregular power supply by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). The residents accused the electricity distribution company of exploitation. The protest, which started at Eleta Community High School, saw no fewer than 40 communities participating in it. Some of the protesters from Ibadan South East Local Council condemned mass disconnection from the source of electricity supply and equally sensitised the residents against what they called injustice. Resident doctors begin nationwide strike on Monday

Resident doctors under the umbrella of National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have unanimously agreed to withdraw their services nationwide, effective Monday, August 2. This, they said, was as a result of poor working conditions, owed salaries and other entitlements, as well as several other issues bordering on their welfare.
