Dino Melaye reacts to bribery scandal

Senator Dino Melaye, has denied offering bribe to a judge, Akon Ikpeme, who handled the petition brought against the lawmaker’s election in 2015. An online media, Sahara Reporters, had published an audio which appeared to contain exchanges between the lawmaker and the judge as they discussed the bribe money. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has assured Nigerian teachers that the National Assembly will increase their retirement age from 60 to 65 years to retain more experienced teachers in public schools. JAMB releases 1.6m UTME results

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released 1,606,901 results out of the 1,718, 425 that registered in the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said this at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday. Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger State on Tuesday retired 16 Permanent Secretaries and appointed 17 new ones in a move to overhaul the state civil service. An emergency meeting of the Senate of the University of Ibadan was called on Tuesday where it was decided that students’ union activities on the campus should be suspended until further notice. Federal government officials say the 82 young women released by Boko Haram extremists this month are now joining those already freed in a special rehabilitation program. National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has so far approved hajj 2017 fare of 21 State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, FCT and the Armed Forces. The approval followed the appearance and defence of the proposed fares by all the agencies in an exercise that began Friday and is still ongoing.
