Armed robbers invade MKO Abiola's residence, steal valuables, torture family members

The family of late Mr Moshood Abiola, winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, has narrated their encounter with armed robbers. Gunmen invaded the residence of the late businessman in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday. In a statement on behalf of the family, Ms Tundun Abiola, a daughter of the late businessman, said the police have been informed of the incident and investigation had commenced. Bandits storm Niger market, abducts nine persons

Bandits have abducted nine people from Kusasu village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The armed men had stormed Kusasu market at the peak of transactions to restock their food items and other basic needs when they abducted their victims in the process. The bandits, who stormed the market in about 15 motorcycles, took their time to do their purchase before abducting their victims. Gunmen abduct General Hospital’s CMD, two others in Ondo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Chief Medical Director, CMD, of General Hospital in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. The kidnappers who laid ambush on the CMD, Mr Olufemi Adeogun also abducted a record officer with the hospital, Mrs Foluke Ajibola and another yet to be identified victim. Bangladesh police arrest 15 Nigerians for fraud

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police has arrested 15 Nigerians for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of money using an American military woman’s fake Facebook ID. They were arrested from Pallabi in Dhaka on Thursday. Nine laptops, 22 mobile phones and five account diaries used in the scam were seized. The white supremacist who slaughtered 51 worshippers at two New Zealand mosques was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Four govt officials jailed for stealing Covid-19 funds in Somalia

A Somali court on Monday sentenced four government officials to jail for having a hand in the theft of public funds meant for Covid-19 emergency response. The Banadir Regional Court, which covers crimes committed in Mogadishu and surrounding locations, found the four guilty following a case that drew public scrutiny in the use of the funds. Canada-based Nigerian extradited to US on $300m fraud charges

A Nigerian based in Canada, Mr Harry Cole, has been extradited to the United States for his alleged involvement in a $300 million sweepstakes fraudulent scheme. A sweepstake is a race, gambling game or lottery in which the winnings comprise all the money that has been staked. Re-arrested suspected Ibadan serial killer narrates how he escaped from police custody

The rearrested suspected Ibadan serial killer, Sunday Shodipe, has revealed he escaped when given opportunity to bathe at the Mokola Police Station on August 11. Policeman killed, others injured as gunmen invade Ibadan police station

A police corporal was reportedly shot dead after gunmen invaded a police station at Ikolaba area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, on Friday. The deceased was among officers on duty when the attackers struck. Some other police officers were said to have sustained injuries in the incident which took the policemen by surprise.
