Kidnappers demand N270m ransom for 9 ABU students

Armed men who kidnapped nine Nigerian French Language students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday, have demanded a cumulative sum of N270 million as their ransom. One of the students among those in the bus but succeeded in escaping, Dickson Oko, told our correspondent that the kidnappers had reached out to the families of the kidnapped students, demanding N30 million ransom on each. Fowler returns to EFCC over fresh fraud allegations

Former Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler, yesterday returned to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further questioning over his stewardship and alleged diversion of N5 billion. Fowler is also accused of allowing gaps in the auditing of the agency’s accounts and other allegations of financial impropriety during his headship of the revenue agency. Two killed, five kidnapped in bandits attack on Abuja-Kaduna expressway

Kaduna State Government has said that five people were kidnapped during Sunday’s attack on commuters along Abuja-Kaduna highway. Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna. Aruwan said the figure was disclosed to government officials by relations of the kidnapped victims. He said the government had forwarded the information to relevant security agencies. Gunmen enter polytechnic campus, abduct lecturer, two kids from their official residences

Gunmen abducted a lecturer and two children of a member of staff of Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic Zaria, Kaduna state, on Saturday. UAE convicts 6 Nigerians for transferring $782,000 to Boko Haram

An Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal in United Arab Emirates (UAE) has convicted six Nigerians over alleged funding of Boko Haram. The conviction was upheld by the appellate court after they lost an earlier appeal at a lower court. Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saleh Yusuf Adamu were sentenced to life imprisonment. Boko Haram kills 12 in two Borno communities

No fewer than seven persons were killed on Sunday in Takulashe village, in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
