FAAC: FG, States, LGs share N610bn

Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) distributed N609.95 billion to Federal, States and Local Governments as revenue generated in November. This is N77.25 billion more than what it shared in October, Mr Ahmed Idris, Accountant-General of the Federation said. Idris said that after the cost of collection deductions by FIRS, Customs and DPR, the Federal Government received N248.2 billion, representing 52.68 per cent; the states got N125.9 billion, representing 26.72 per cent and the 774 local councils received N97.06 billion, amounting to 20.60 per cent. Former SGF Gidado Idris buried in Abuja

Former Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), Mr Gidado Idris, who died on Friday night in Abuja, was buried at Gudu Cemetery in FCT on Saturday amid tears and prayers from families and the Muslim community. Billionaire and wife found dead at their home

A Canadian billionaire and his wife have been found dead at their home in Toronto in circumstances that police described as "suspicious". The bodies of Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found in the basement, reports said. 300 doctors left Nigeria in 2016, more in 2017 - NMA

Three hundred Nigerian doctors left the country in 2016, national president of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Mr Mike Ogirima, has revealed. He said more doctors had joined the migration train this year. Govs approve $1bn from Excess Crude Account to fight Boko Haram

Governors from Nigeria’s 36 states have approved the withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account by the federal government to be used in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east. Court overrules Aregbesola, declares ‘State of Osun’ illegal

An Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa has declared that the change of name of the state to ‘State of Osun’ by Governor Rauf Aregbesola is illegal, null and void. Court stops El-Rufai from sacking over 20,000 Kaduna teachers

National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Kaduna division, on Thursday, halted the planned sack of 21,780 primary school teachers who failed a competency test organised by the state government. The lawyer representing the teachers, Mr Samuel Atum, had on October 30 filed a motion of “interlocutory injunction”, asking the court to restrain the government from dismissing or disengaging any teacher on the basis of the test conducted in June 2017. Tanker explosion destroys 21 vehicles, motorcycles

No fewer than 21 vehicles were destroyed on Wednesday after a fuel-laden tanker exploded on the FESTAC link bridge in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State. The fire, which started around 12pm, was also said to have consumed five motorcycles. The fuel-laden truck was ascending the bridge en route from Apple Junction when it suddenly descended. JAMB remits N3b more to Federation Account

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted additional N3.6 billion to the treasury, its Registrar, Mr Is-haq Oloyede, has said. He said the N5.2 billion earlier sent to the treasury was not the total money the board actually transferred to the government.
