A tropical storm in the southern Philippines triggered mudslides and flash floods that killed more than 100 people, while dozens are missing, police and disaster officials said on Saturday. The casualties, most of them caused late on Friday, were all on the main southern island of Mindanao, they said, adding three provinces were hardest hit. Many feared dead in Philippines mall fire

At least 25 people are feared dead in a fire that ravaged a shopping mall in the southern Philippine city of Davao, local officials say. Firefighters battled for hours to extinguish the blaze that started on Saturday morning on the third floor and spread to the floor above, trapping employees of a call centre. Their chances of survival were "zero", a local official was quoted as saying. President Rodrigo Duterte met the families of the missing at the scene. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Bus plunges from bridge killing 33

A bus with 50 people on board has plunged from a bridge in northern India, killing 33, police say. The vehicle - reports say driven by a 16-year-old - lost control and broke through a railing before falling 30m (100 ft) into the Banas river. It was carrying passengers in Rajasthan to the Ramdevji Hindu temple in Sawai Madhopur district, local media report. Most of the bodies have been retrieved and the injured taken to local hospitals. Truck hits aircraft at Lagos airport

Truck operated by one of the ground handling companies yesterday hit and damaged an aircraft belonging to Air Peace at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, disrupting some of its flights. The incident occurred in the morning during the loading of passengers’ luggage into the cargo hold of the aircraft scheduled to service the carrier’s Lagos-Uyo route.
