I’m Abraham’s descendant -Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said he was a descendant of Abraham, a biblical hero regarded as the father of Christian faith. The President said this in an article he wrote in The Church Times UK titled, “Don’t politicise religion in Nigeria.” In the piece, Buhari eulogised late Revd. Nigeria deploys drones to fight Boko Haram – Report

Federal government has deployed drones in the fight against insurgency in Northeast part of Nigeria. The deployment followed recent killing of some Nigerian soldiers fighting the insurgency in the region. The soldiers were ambushed by the terrorist group, Boko Haram. The Nigerian delegation made the revelation in its Country report presented to ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja on Friday. Ortom raises fresh alarm over influx of herdsmen into Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, on Friday, raised a fresh alarm over influx of herdsmen and their cattle into parts of the state. ASUU Strike: FG orders universities to implement ‘no work, no pay’

Federal Government has directed vice-chancellors of striking public universities across the country to enforce “no-work-no-pay” rule on the striking lecturers. The directive to implement the “no work, no pay” policy was communicated to the universities in a memo sent by Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) to vice-chancellors. Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had on November 4 declared indefinite, nationwide strike over non-implementation of previous agreements by federal government and demand for increased university funding. Boko Haram using drones, foreign fighters against Nigerian troops – Army chief

A sudden rise in Boko Haram attacks over the last three months has forced the Nigerian military to fine-tune its counter-insurgency operations in the war-ravaged North-east, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Mr Tukur Buratai said on Wednesday. FAAC: FG, states, LGs share N788.1bn for October

Federal Government, states, FCT as well as the 774 local governments on Wednesday shared N788.1 billion for October. Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday after the Federation Account Allocation Committee meeting in Kaduna. Idris said the N682.1 billion gross statutory revenue for the month was N112.2 billion higher than the N569.2 billion shared in September. He added that gross revenue available from Value Added Tax (VAT) for the month was N105.1 billion as against the N79.1 billion distributed in September, indicating an increase of N29 billion. FG slashes cost of JAMB, NECO exams

Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has approved a cut in the cost of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) application forms from N5,000 to N3,500; from January 2019. Government also announced reduction of fees for Senior Secondary Certificate handled by National Examination Council (NECO) from 11,350 to N9,850 and Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO, from N5,500 to N4,000. Anambra govt backs abolition of Osu caste system

Anambra State Government has adopted the December 28 date set by major traditional rulers in South-east to abolish the controversial Osu caste system.
