Buhari accuses N’Assembly of ‘padding’ 2019 budget with more than half trillion Naira

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday signed 2019 appropriation bill of N8.92 trillion into law but said adjustment of the budget by the National Assembly may affect its smooth implementation. Speaking at the event which took place at the president’s mini-conference room, Presidential Villa, Abuja, Mr Buhari said the addition of about N90 billion to the N8.83 trillion he submitted to the legislature would make it difficult for the government to realise its set objectives. He, however, stated that the executive arm of government would dialogue with the forthcoming ninth National Assembly so as to make life much better for Nigerians.…

Buhari’s aide berates President’s wife for ‘speaking without facts’

Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment, Mrs Maryam Uwais, has responded to allegations by wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari, that implementation of Social Investment Programmes (SIP) failed in the North. Uwais, who spoke on a Lagos-based televison station on Monday, said the programme had, out of the 4.2 million indigenes, reached out directly to, at least, 290,000 beneficiaries in 12 local governments of Adamawa State. Pastors claim 30 Christians killed in Jos attacks

About 30 persons were killed and 20 houses burnt by suspected Islamic fundamentalists during the attacks on some churches and areas inhabited by Christians in Jos on Sunday, a group, Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association, has claimed. Many feared killed in fresh Jos violence

Many were on Sunday feared killed and others injured in fresh violence in parts of Jos, Plateau State. Houses were also reportedly burnt during the violence which spread to communities, including Dutse-Uku and Rikkos. Nobel Laureate, Mr Wole Soyinka, Wednesday backed former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his worries about the insecurity in the country arising from banditry and the spate of kidnappings. FG gives 14-day ultimatum to clear Apapa gridlock

Presidency has given two weeks for the immediate clearing up of the intractable Apapa gridlock and the restoration of law and order to Apapa and its environs.
