World Bank forecasts slower 2019 GDP for Nigeria

World Bank Group has predicted real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 2.1 per cent for Nigeria for 2019, slightly lower than the 2.2 per cent it had predicted for the country same year in a report early this year. But the bank projected a 2.2 per cent growth for the country for 2020 and 2.4 per cent for 2021. With over 300 Bills to its credit, 8th N’Assembly draws the curtain today

As the Eighth National Assembly winds down its legislative activities today, with a valedictory session scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., records revealed that Senate passed 319 bills within four years. Nigeria’s envoy elected president UN General Assembly

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Mr Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, has emerged president of the 74th UN General Assembly. Muhammad-Bande, the sole candidate for the position, was elected through acclamation at the 87th plenary meeting of the Assembly in New York on Tuesday. ActionAid commends Buhari’s social investment schemes

ActionAid Nigeria (AAN), an international not-for-profit outfit has said Nigeria’s social investment programmes are improving lives of its citizens. In a statement signed by Country Director Ene Obi, on Tuesday, the outfit said the organisation was able to monitor and evaluate three out of Nigeria Social Investment Programme (NSIP) independently. Boko Haram dislodges troops in Borno, army commander, others missing

Nigerians celebrate Sallah today as moon sighted Monday night

The new moon marking end of Ramadan has been seen. Mr Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary General of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) said Sultan of Sokoto, Mr Saad Abubakar, will make an official announcement on Monday night. Ghana’s railway line project costs less than half Buhari’s Lagos-Ibadan rail line - Report

Ghanaian- European Railway Consortium (GERC) has agreed to construct a 340km standard gauge railway line in Ghana at $2.2 billion, the same contract price as the ongoing 156km railway line between Lagos and Ibadan.
