Federal Government has abolished the dichotomy between holders of Barchelor’s Degree and those with Higher National Diploma, HND, in all the Services under Ministry of Interior. Agencies affected are Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prisons Service and Federal Fire Service. Before now, personnel with HND certificates are employed into the Inspectorate cadre while their colleagues with Barchelor’s Degree certificate are in the Superintendent cadre. Oyo State Government on Tuesday announced that some roads and institutions have been approved for renaming by Executive Council of the State. The government also said that the Governor of the State, Mr Abiola Ajimobi would commission some completed projects. United States mission to Nigeria has announced the indefinite suspension of interview waivers for visa renewals, otherwise known as the “Dropbox” process. The embassy said visa applications will “no longer be accepted by DHL in Nigeria.” It said all applicants in Nigeria seeking a non-immigrant visa to United States must apply online, and will be required to appear in-person at U.S. Embassy in Abuja or U.S. Consulate General in Lagos to submit their application for review. JAMB pays N5b into Federation Account

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted N5 billion to the Federation Account in 2019. This is against the N8 billion it returned to the government purse last year. JAMB’s Head of Information, Mr Fabian Benjamin, confirmed this in an interview yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital. FCTA demolishes Abuja strip club

FCT Administration has demolished Caramelo Lounge, a strip club based in Utako District, Abuja. It also revoked the Certificate of Occupancy issued on the plot. The demolition was carried out yesterday morning by Department of Development Control (DDC), an agency under FCTA, accompanied by a joint team of security personnel. Economic Confidential at the weekend released its Annual States Viability Index (ASVI) for 2018, showing that 17 states of the 36 states are insolvent as their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) in 2018 were far below 10 per cent of their receipts from the Federation Account Allocations (FAA) in the same year.
