A woman who detransitioned in 2018 says there are many people who have had gender reassignment surgery who wish they hadn't. Hundreds of young transgender people are seeking help to return to their original sex, a woman who is setting up a charity has told Sky News. Charlie Evans, 28, was born female but identified as male for nearly 10 years before detransitioning. The number of young people seeking gender transition is at an all-time high but we hear very little, if anything, about those who may come to regret their decision. There is currently no data to reflect the…
Crude oil production quota for Nigeria is now 1.77 million barrels per day following agreements reached by members of Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries. OPEC member countries and their non-OPEC allies had agreed to cut down crude oil production in order to halt the fall in global crude oil prices. This came as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Timipre Sylva, told Blomberg TV that Nigeria was ready to make deeper oil cuts if necessary. He said Nigeria and other members of OPEC were ready to cut crude supplies further if prices continue to tumble. “Everybody agrees in OPEC…

Counsel to Publisher of Sahara Reporters has defended his client’s choice of the word “revolution” in the August 5 protest that held across the country. Mr Sowore’s lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, said even the Supreme Court does not regard a revolution as a lawful offence. Falana cited previous authorities by Supreme Court to support his argument. “Even a coup that sustains the status quo has been said not to be a revolution by Supreme Court.” Falana said All Progressives Congress (APC) and President, Mr Muhammadu Buhari staged protests after they lost elections in 2003. He added that Buhari also called…
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has called on Muslims to undertake three days of fasting and offer special prayers to seek Allah’s punishment on those behind the desecration of Holy Qur’an in the state. Nigerian police plan to acquire stun guns and revise their rules of engagement in an effort to curb the use of deadly force, the inspector general of the force said on Thursday. The West African country, which plays a pivotal role in regional stability, is riven by security problems ranging from armed bandits who have forced 40,000 people to leave the northwest in recent months to communal violence between nomadic herdsmen and farming communities in central states. Last month, a United Nations special rapporteur described Nigeria as a "pressure cooker of internal conflict" due to security problems and what it…
The Trump administration will deny visas to immigrants who cannot prove they will have health insurance or the ability to pay for medical costs once they become permanent residents of the United States, the White House announced Friday in the latest move by President Trump to undermine legal immigration. Mr. Trump issued a proclamation, effective Nov. 3, ordering consular officers to bar immigrants seeking to live in the United States unless they “will be covered by approved health insurance” or can prove that they have “the financial resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs.” Mr. Trump justified the move…
South Africa and Nigeria, yesterday, signed 30 trade and cooperation agreements weeks after a wave of violence against Nigerian nationals in Johannesburg and Pretoria strained relations between Africa’s top two economies. Presidents Cyril Ramaphosa and Muhammadu Buhari, at the conclusion of a two-day visit by the Nigerian leader, said they regretted the violence and subsequent retaliation in Nigeria against South African businesses, pledging instead to deepen trade ties. The duo vowed to put an end to xenophobic attacks and reprisals in South Africa and Nigeria, respectively. In September, armed mobs attacked businesses and homes owned by foreigners, leading to at…

Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, had said on Wednesday that Federal Government had directed its lawyers to seek the leave of the court to appeal against last week’s ruling of Mr Christopher Butcher of the Commercial Court in London imposing the payments as conditions for granting a…
