Free Lagos-Ibadan train rides record 6 passengers in 2 trips

Hours after federal government declared free train rides between Lagos and Ibadan on the new standard gauge train, only six passengers have boarded the train in two separate trips. Transport minister Rotimi Amaechi had declared the free ride on Saturday after a test-run of the train from Iju in Lagos to Ibadan, Oyo state where the 157-kilometer project terminates. 6 arrested, 3 injured as Ghanaian, Nigerian traders clash

Six persons have been arrested following a bloody clash between Ghanaian and Nigerian traders in Accra. Three persons, according to the police, were injured during the Monday morning fight at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. The fight follows the closure of shops belonging to some Nigerian traders. 30m more Nigerians will slide into extreme poverty if urgent policy reforms are not taken by govt - World Bank

World Bank has said the number of Nigerians living in extreme poverty may increase by more than 30 million by 2030 and the country will be home to 25 per cent of the world’s destitute people if the government fails to revive economic growth and create jobs. Border closure: Customs rakes in N8bn daily - FG

Federal government says Nigeria Customs Service is now generating a daily revenue of N8 billion since the closure of land borders three months ago. Ikoyi Prison tragedy: How 6 inmates were electrocuted

Six inmates serving various prison terms at Ikoyi Correctional Center, Lagos, yesterday died after an electrical cable exploded. But Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, confirmed the deaths of five inmates and seven injured inmates. Illegal aliens will be deported from Nigeria starting Jan 12 - FG

Federal Government has insisted that any undocumented alien that fails to take part in the e-registration of Nigeria Immigration Service will be deported after the January 12, 2020 deadline.
