Mr Allen Onyema, chairman of Air Peace Limited in Nigeria, is facing multiple charges of money laundering and bank fraud in excess of $20 million. A United States grand jury recently indicted Mr Onyema and Ejiroghene Eghagha, Air Peace’s head of finance and administration. Mr Allen Onyema, chairman, CEO, and founder of Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, has been charged with bank fraud and money laundering for moving more than $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes. A convicted internet fraudster has been placed under investigation in Nigeria for allegedly masterminding a "mega scam" from a maximum-security prison worth at least $1m (N360 million). Anti-corruption officials said Hope Olusegun Aroke used a "network of accomplices" for the fraud. Gunmen killed 14 persons in an attack on Karaye village in Gwalli district in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Management of National Examinations Council (NECO) has approved dismissal of 70 staff from service for certificate forgery. A mother of four children identified as Hassana Saleh has been rescued from a room where she was holed-up in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna metropolis. A government gazette just published has stripped Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC) of the powers to seize assets of people being investigated. According to the gazette, Vol. 106, No 163, entitled, “Asset Tracing, Recovery and Management Regulation 2019’’, dated Oct. 29, 2019 such powers have now been transferred to Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
