Armed bandits Saturday attacked communities in three local governments of Katsina State, killing 47 persons. Katsina State Police Command confirmed the early morning attacks and the casualty. The command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah, made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Katsina. Scammers are sending 18 million hoax emails about Covid-19 to Gmail users every day, according to Google. Unidentified gunmen attacked Hurra community of Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau, killing nine persons and burning 33 houses. Mr Sunday Abdu, National President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), said on Thursday that the incident occurred Tuesday night. Abdu said two other persons were severely injured in the attack and were presently receiving treatment at the hospital. International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) has said it uncovered a €1.5m (N630 million) face masks scam involving Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands with a portion of the money wired to Nigeria. According to a statement by Interpol Secretary General, Jürgen Stock, compromised emails were used in the “highly sophisticated fraud”. Last August, a major bust by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) offered some insight into the growing scale and capabilities of Nigerian online fraudsters.
