Boko Haram attacks Maiduguri hours after Buhari’s visit

Maiduguri, Borno State capital, was thrown into confusion on Wednesday evening as suspected Boko Haram members launched an attack on the city few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari visited. At about 7 p.m., residents of Jiddari Polo, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, began to flee into the city centre through Polo and Damboa road as the terrorists attacked. 16 family members burnt to death by bandits in Kaduna

Sixteen members of same family were burnt to death by bandits who invaded Bakali village in Fatika District, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The bandits, our correspondent learnt invaded the community on Tuesday around 4:00pm and set fire on many bags of grains, vehicles and motorcycles in the village. Boko Haram burnt 30 travelers to death at Maiduguri gate. This is why and how it happened

At least 30 persons, mostly travellers, stranded outside the military-controlled entrance gate of Maiduguri were on Sunday night killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. Gunmen storm ex-ABU VC’s house, abduct daughter

Gunmen on Friday night stormed the residence of a former vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Mr Abdullahi Mustapha, and took away his daughter. Confirming the incident yesterday, Mustapha said the gunmen came to the house around 11:20 pm. “Yes, it is true. They shot one security man, we don’t know who they are, as they have not contacted us yet,” he said. Supreme Court affirms jail term for Taraba ex-gov Nyame, expunges fines

Supreme Court yesterday affirmed judgment of the Court of Appeal which sentenced a former Governor of Taraba State, Mr Jolly Nyame, to 12 years imprisonment for corruption. A five man panel of the apex court presided over by Mrs Mary Peter-Odili, however set aside all fines slammed on him by the appellate court. Police wipe out 250 ‘terrorists’ in major operation in Kaduna forest

Police have announced a combat operation that led to the killing of 250 alleged terrorists in Kaduna State. Several large-sized brown paper wrappings containing a stash of foreign currency totalling $8.06 million was intercepted on the tarmac of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigerian Customs Service said Tuesday. UK has thousands of people in modern slavery - and in London it's getting worse

Number of identified victims of modern slavery and human trafficking in London has risen more than tenfold in the space of five years, according to a new report which analyzes police data. Federal agents have found the "longest illicit cross-border tunnel ever discovered along the Southwest border," Customs and Border Protection announced Wednesday. Buhari orders airstrikes on bandits in Niger, Kaduna, Zamfara
