Anambra guber: Soludo in early lead as APGA sweeps all 5 LGs announced so far

Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won five Local Government Areas in the ongoing governorship election. The local governments are Awka South, Onitsha South and Enugu Anambra East, Anaocha, and Anambra East. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Sunday for the final collation of the election. Meanwhile, the election was marred by voter apathy, vote-buying, late arrival of materials and the malfunction of the BVAS machine. Northern leaders file suit to compel FG, N’Assembly allow Southeast secede from Nigeria

Senate changes stance on electronic transmission of election results

Senate has reconsidered its stance on the electoral act amendment bill and has empowered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine the best mode to transmit election results. The electoral commission will now have to decide how to transmit election results — either electronically or manually. The upper legislative chamber also approved that all political parties must use the direct primary mode in picking candidates. Senate approved four clauses in the electoral act amendment bill.
