Gun battles, factional fights characterise APC state congresses in Ogun, Osun, others

Reported cases of violence and protests marred Saturday’s conduct of congresses in 34 out of the 36 states of the federation by the governing All Progressives Congress. Hoodlums vandalise 50 cars as Oyo PDP produces two excos in parallel state congresses

At least 50 vehicles parked around the Jogor Centre, Ibadan, where the Mulikat Adeola-Akande-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party held its state congress on Saturday were vandalised by hoodlums. Senate changes stance on electronic transmission of election results

Senate has reconsidered its stance on the electoral act amendment bill and has empowered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine the best mode to transmit election results. The electoral commission will now have to decide how to transmit election results — either electronically or manually. The upper legislative chamber also approved that all political parties must use the direct primary mode in picking candidates. Senate approved four clauses in the electoral act amendment bill.
