Akeredolu emerges Ondo APC gov candidate

Governor of Ondo state, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has clinched the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the October 10 gubernatorial election. The governor secured the highest votes in the election which held at The Dome in Akure, the state capital. While announcing Akeredolu as winner of the exercise, Mr Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi and chairman of APC primary election committee, said he polled a total of 2,458 votes while Mr Olusola Oke came second with 262 votes and Mr lsaacs Kekemeke polled 19 votes. Ebonyi gov sacks over 1,000 aides

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Monday announced sack of more than 1,000 aides for non-performance. Those affected include technical assistants (TAs), senior technical assistants (STAs) and executive assistants (EAs) to the governor. Umahi disclosed this on Monday during the swearing-in of three caretaker chairmen of Ikwo, Afikpo North and Ivo LGAs and the coordinator of Ohaozara Development Centre, at Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the September 19 Governorship Election in Edo State. The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, in Abuja on Saturday. The list of the 14 political parties published by the commission shows that 12 out of the 14 governorship candidates were male while two female. Supreme court on Tuesday dismissed an appeal filed by Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) governorship aspirant in Bayelsa State, Mr Ndutimi Alaibe, in his bid to unseat Governor Douye Diri.
