Democratic presidential candidate Mr Joe Biden on Tuesday picked Ms Kamala Harris as his choice for vice president, making her the first Black woman on a major-party U.S. presidential ticket and giving him a partner well prepared to go on the attack against Republican President Donald Trump. With social unrest over racial injustice rocking the country for months, Biden had been under increasing pressure to select a Black woman as his running mate. Harris is also the first Asian-American on a major presidential ticket. In Harris, a 55-year-old senator from California who made her own run for the White House,…
Court of appeal in Abuja has ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enlist 22 political parties which were deregistered. In February, INEC had de-registered 74 parties for “failing to meet the criteria provided for by section 225(a) of 1999 constitution (as amended)”. Some of the parties jointly filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/444/2019, asking the court to determine whether INEC has the constitutional power to deregister them. However, on June 11, Mr Anwuli Chikere, Judge of a federal high court in Abuja, agreed with INEC and dismissed the suit on the grounds that they failed to prove their case. Delivering…

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a portal where election results from polling units can be viewed in real time.
