Police lay siege to Dino Melaye’s residence

Policemen yesterday laid siege to Abuja residence of Mr Dino Melaye, a Senator( APC, Kogi). Melaye, arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja around 7:30am yesterday ‘escaped’ from the custody of the immigration officials after about an hour. Saudi Arabia moves to block Nigerian pilgrims from Hajj 2018

Saudi Arabian authorities are threatening to block Nigerian pilgrims from attending this year’s Hajj exercise. Nigeria has one of the largest contingents in the annual religious exercise with about 95,000 pilgrims. National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Monday said Saudi Arabia is taking the decision because of reports of Lassa fever outbreak in Nigeria. Van plows into Toronto sidewalk, killing 10 and injuring 15

A 25-year-old in a rented van plowed down a Toronto sidewalk crowded with lunchtime strollers Monday, killing 10 people and injuring 15 in what appeared to witnesses and the city's police chief as a deliberate attack. Nigeria to receive 12 fighter jets from US in 2020

U.S. says it will in 2020 deliver the 12 Super Tucano fighter jets and other weapons it agreed to sell to Nigeria to combat Boko Haram insurgents and other extremist groups. World's oldest person dies at age of 117

The world's oldest person, a 117-year-old Japanese woman, has died. Nabi Tajima died of old age in a hospital Saturday evening in the town of Kikai in southern Japan, town official Susumu Yoshiyuki confirmed. She had been hospitalized since January. Tajima, born on Aug. 4, 1900, was the last known person born in the 19th century. She reportedly had more than 160 descendants, including great-great-great grandchildren. Pro-Biafra protesters on Thursday stormed the Commonwealth House in London. The protest took place as President Muhammadu Buhari met with Queen Elizabeth II and other leaders of Commonwealth countries.
