Oyo begins enforcement of environmental sanitation, physical planning laws

1.4 billion people face health risks, early death due to lack of exercise - WHO

Very little progress has been made in reducing levels of inactivity worldwide, experts have warned. A WHO report estimates that more than a quarter of people worldwide - 1.4 billion - are not doing enough physical exercise, a figure that has barely improved since 2001. Inactivity raises the risk of a raft of health problems, such as heart disease, type-2 diabetes and some cancers. High-income countries, including the UK, were among the least active. Argentina slashed the number of government ministries to 10 from 19 as part of an austerity push, the government said in a statement on Monday, adding that former Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne’s title would change to Economy Minister. Joint Union of Plateau State Owned Tertiary Institutions (JUPTI) has embarked on an indefinite strike. Firefighters battle massive blaze at 200-year-old Rio museum

A massive fire tore through a 200-year-old museum in Rio de Janeiro late Sunday, lighting up the night and sending large plumes of smoke into the air. Nigeria has lost 96% of its forest – NCF

Nigeria has lost 96 per cent of its forest due to deforestation, according to Director-General, Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Mr Muhtari Aminu-Kano.
