Strike: Presidency, Labour leaders in crucial talks at Aso Rock

Presidency on Thursday in Abuja summoned the leadership of organised labour to an emergency meeting with a view to ending the ongoing nationwide industrial action. Fuel scarcity looms as oil workers join strike

Supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country are under threat as Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Association have joined the strike ordered by Nigeria Labour Congress. FG declares October 1 public holiday

Federal government has declared Monday, October 1 as public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary. It made the declaration in a statement issued by Minister of Interior, Mr Abdulrahman Dambazau, on Thursday in Abuja. FG, States, LGs Share N741.843bn for August

The three tiers of government – federal, states and local governments shared a total of N741.843 billion as the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) met in Abuja yesterday to distribute revenue for the month of August. The allocations were shared even as the federal government avoided comments on the alleged withholding of the last tranche of the Paris Club refund to three states, including Benue, Delta and Rivers. Aisha Buhari orders arrest of own ADC, alleges N2.5 billion fraud

A scandal is brewing within the household of President Muhammadu Buhari. His wife, Aisha, has caused the arrest of her own Aide De Camp, after accusing him of defrauding her, those familiar with the matter have said. FG recalls Paris Club refund for 5 states

Federal Government, yesterday, ordered recall of the second tranche of the London and Paris Club Refunds disbursed to five states, amounting to about $2.7 billion (N972 billion.) No reason for the recall was given. The states involved are Delta, Imo, Benue, Rivers and Osun. Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared the starting of an indefinite warning strike to press the Buhari administration to adopt a new minimum wage for workers. Court nullifies removal of Imo deputy governor, Madumere

An Imo State High Court has nullified the removal from office of Imo State Deputy Governor, Mr Eze Madumere. Madumere was removed controversially from office by Imo State House of Assembly members over a political dispute with Governor Rochas Okorocha. FG approves N43bn for ex-Nigeria Airways workers, Universities

More than 15 years after liquidation of Nigeria Airways Limited, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved immediate release of N22.68 billion for settlement of retirement benefits of ex-workers of the defunct airline. Workers set for nationwide strike

Nigeria’s organised labour began preparation for a nationwide strike over Federal Government delay in the implementation of a new national Minimum Wage.
