Akwa Ibom to launch own airline – Gov

Akwa Ibom governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has said his administration was planning to launch a state-owned airline, Ibom Air, to “lessen problems currently being encountered by numerous air travellers” to the state. Emmanuel said this on Friday in Uyo, during the annual state-sponsored Christmas Carol night. FG plans new taxes to fund 2019 budget

Amid revenue shortfall pressures, Federal Government intends to introduce new taxes in the fiscal year 2019 as part of its efforts to boost revenue. Senate adjourns till January 16

Senate has adjourned its plenary till January 16, 2019. Motion for adjournment was moved by Senate Leader, Mr Ahmed Lawan, after Thursday’s plenary. While moving the motion, Lawan thanked opposition colleagues, staff of National Assembly, journalists and others ‘who made 2018 successful’. The motion was seconded by FCT Senator, Mr Philip Aduda. Buhari proposes N8.83 trillion budget for 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari has proposed a budget of N8.83 trillion for 2019. The president presented the budget at a joint session of National Assembly on Wednesday. The proposed budget shows that about a quarter of the sum (N2.14 trillion) will be used for debt servicing while capital expenditure is expected to gulp N2.031 trillion.
