Kaduna health workers begin strike, defy sack threat

Over 11,000 health workers under the aegis of Kaduna State Health Care Workers Union and Associations began a seven-day warning strike on Saturday following the state government’s decision to deduct 25 per cent from their salaries. They said the deduction was done in violation of the Labour Act. The health workers said in a communiqué that they decided to down their tools to force the state government to reverse its decision. Buhari issues executive order granting financial autonomy to state legislature, judiciary

President Muhammadu Buhari has granted financial autonomy to the legislature and judiciary across the 36 states of the country. Buhari granted the autonomy via a new executive order signed on Friday. Nigeria loses $1.1bn case against Shell, Eni in UK court

An English court threw out a $1.1 billion case Nigeria had brought against Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) and Eni (ENI.MI) related to a dispute over the OPL 245 oilfield, a court document showed on Friday, while a related trial in Italy continues. Buhari appoints new NECO registrar

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Godswill Obioma as the new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of National Examinations Council (NECO). Scores killed as Pakistan Airliner crashes in Karachi

Covid-19: Quarantine plans for UK arrivals unveiled

People arriving in the UK must self-isolate for 14 days from 8 June to help slow the spread of coronavirus, the government has said. Nigeria’s economy may contract up to 8.9 percent - FG

Nigeria’s economy could shrink as much as 8.9% in 2020 in a worst-case scenario without stimulus, Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed said on Thursday, a deeper recession than forecast after oil prices plunged due to the coronavirus pandemic. Buhari issues amended Executive Order on voluntary overseas asset declaration
