Nationwide blackout as grid collapses yet again

Nigeria’s electricity grid, operated from Osogbo, Osun State, again collapsed yesterday afternoon, leaving the entire nation in darkness. Managed by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), sources at the firm confirmed the development to reporters as some distribution companies (DisCos) had already notified consumers of the total blackout. While the grid experienced collapsed in May this year due to industrial unrest, it earlier gave way in April, questioning the integrity of the infrastructure. Reggae legend Majek Fashek dies at 57

Reggae legend Majek Fashek has died at the age of 57. The performer, popular for hits such as Send Down the Rain and So Long for Too Long, died in his sleep in New York, his manager Omenka Uzoma announced. Writing on Instagram, Mr Uzoma said it was "a time for us all to celebrate his achievements, and not mourn". Budget 2020 deficit has increased 146 percent - DMO

Nigeria’s budget deficit has risen from N1.847 trillion to N4.563 trillion, it was learnt on Monday. This is an increase by 146 percent. The deficit figure captured in the original 2020 budget before its downward review was N1.847 trillion. It has gone up N4.563 trillion in the revised appropriation now awaiting National Assembly consideration and approval. Resident doctors give notice of nationwide strike

FG evacuates 268 Nigerians stranded in China

Nigeria has evacuated some of its stranded nationals from China.
