Mr Ibrahim Gambari, a retired professor and diplomat, has been appointed as president Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, according to a presidential source, Emir of Ilorin and a UN representative to Nigeria. The appointment has not been officially announced by the president. Gambari is one of Buhari’s appointees during his military rule. Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) has said its members lost over N12 billion to the Covid-19 lockdown, closure of motor parks, boundaries and borders across the country since March 2020. Nigeria and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa will lose about $200bn in incomes by the end of 2020, according to International Monetary Fund. The development is as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is pulling the global economy towards recession. IMF had already, in its latest Regional Economic Outlook, projected that the economies of Sub-Saharan African countries would contract by 1.6 per cent this year.
