Court awards N500m damages against publisher for defaming church, overseer

An Ogun State High Court has ordered a UK-based blogger, Maureen Badejo, to pay ₦500 million to Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and its General Overseer, Daniel Olukoya, for defamation. Abiodun Akinyemi, while delivering the judgment, also ordered Ms Badejo, proprietor of Gio TV, to pull down and erase the offending online publications concerning the claimants from the internet. South-west govs insist states must exercise authority over their forest reserves

Governors from the south-west region have backed the resolution of the National Economic Council (NEC) for each state to manage its forest reserves. The meeting, which also had some traditional rulers in attendance, took place at the executive chamber of Oyo state governor’s office in Ibadan. Nigeria out of recession with 0.11% growth

Nigeria’s economy grew by 0.11 percent in the fourth of 2020.
