There were explosions near the Adamkolo and Gwange areas of Borno state on Tuesday evening, according to residents. Some residents also said they heard multiple gunshots around the Mairi area a few minutes past 6 pm. Mairi area is a student-dominated area near University of Maiduguri. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has directed its officers to impound rickety vehicles plying Nigerian roads. African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim) has approved $2 billion to support the acquisition of Covid-19 vaccines for African countries, its president said on Tuesday. The African Union initially secured 270 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from manufacturers for member states.
