In the first six months of the year, the total value of trade in agricultural goods was N1.5tn, data from the National Bureau of Statistics have shown. Imports accounted for N1.3tn of total trade in the sector while exports was N292.5bn within the review period. This resulted in a trade deficit of N1.07tn in the agriculture sector. Federal government says it has suspended international passports of more than 2,000 in-bound travellers for violating the Covid protocol. Mukhtar Mohammed, national incident manager of the presidential steering committee (PSC), disclosed this on Monday, at a media briefing held in Abuja. Nigerian Navy has called for drastic measures against neighbouring countries as part of measures to end the proliferation of small and medium arms in Nigeria. The Covid-19 pandemic reduced life expectancy in 2020 by the largest amount since World War Two, according to a study published on Monday by Oxford University, with the life expectancy of American men dropping by more than two years. Life expectancy fell by more than six months compared with 2019 in 22 of the 29 countries analysed in the study, which spanned Europe, the United States and Chile.
