CBN’s eNaira website goes live preparatory to Oct 1 launch

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has launched a website for the operations of eNaira, the country’s first digital currency. The website, www.enaira.com, started running on Monday, though still at the development stage, according to checks by TheCable. NNPC projected N1.47trn remittance to FAAC in first 7 months of 2021, but paid only N349.2bn. Here’s why

Out of a possible N1.46 trillion the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) budgeted as revenue payment to the nation in the first seven months of 2021, the corporation has only been able to remit N349.254 billon as of July ending this year, data from the corporation has indicated. Nigeria earned N292.5bn in agric export revenue, spent N1.3trn importing food in Half 1, 2021 - NBS

In the first six months of the year, the total value of trade in agricultural goods was N1.5tn, data from the National Bureau of Statistics have shown. Imports accounted for N1.3tn of total trade in the sector while exports was N292.5bn within the review period. This resulted in a trade deficit of N1.07tn in the agriculture sector. International passports of over 2,000 travellers suspended for violating Covid-19 protocol - Official

Federal government says it has suspended international passports of more than 2,000 in-bound travellers for violating the Covid protocol. Mukhtar Mohammed, national incident manager of the presidential steering committee (PSC), disclosed this on Monday, at a media briefing held in Abuja. Covid-19 has killed 5m people globally and reduced life expectancy by most since World War II - Study

The Covid-19 pandemic reduced life expectancy in 2020 by the largest amount since World War Two, according to a study published on Monday by Oxford University, with the life expectancy of American men dropping by more than two years. Life expectancy fell by more than six months compared with 2019 in 22 of the 29 countries analysed in the study, which spanned Europe, the United States and Chile. At least 3 killed in US train derailment

At least three people were killed Saturday afternoon when an Amtrak train that runs between Seattle and Chicago derailed in north-central Montana, United States, an official with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said.
