FIRS generated N6.4trn revenue in 2021 - Report

Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has raked in N6.4 trillion as revenue in 2021, the highest in its history. The 2021 revenue collection surpassed the N5.3 trillion generated in 2019 when Babatunde Fowler was the head. UAE lifts entry, transit ban on passengers from Nigeria, Ethiopia, 10 other African countries

The United Arab Emirates will lift an entry and transit ban on Saturday on travellers who had recently visited South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and eight other African countries. National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) said late on Wednesday it was lifting the ban on those who had visited certain African countries in the previous 14 days, imposed due to the Omicron Covid-19 variant. Rivers defeats FG in court case over FG’s deductions from Federation Account to fund police

A federal high court in Abuja has declared that the direct deduction of funds from the federation account to fund the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is illegal. In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, Ahmed Mohammed, the presiding judge, held that the provisions of section 4(1)(a) (b) of the Police Trust Fund Act 2019, requiring the deduction of 0.05 percent of any funds in the federation account and 0.005 percent of the net profit of companies operating in Nigeria to fund the police are unconstitutional. Nigeria may have shortage of policemen as Southwest youths refuse to join police - PSC
