Senate rejects U.S.-based professor as electricity commission boss

The Senate has rejected the nomination of American-based professor, Akintunde Akinwande, as the head of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission. Mr. Akinwande was rejected for his failure to attend confirmation hearing. The decision was announced Tuesday. Declare state of emergency in pension administration, pensioners urge FG

Pensioners who retired from federal government agencies and establishments have called for state of emergency in pension administration of the country, saying many of them are dying of hunger, depression and poor health. FG suspends law that forced Pastor Adeboye to stand down as RCCG leader

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday suspended the Corporate Governance Code which was issued on October 17, 2016 by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. The suspension is coming barely two days after the Corporate Governance Code reportedly forced Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to step down as the General overseer of RCCG Nigeria. UN uncovers 400 fresh graves in Borno

United Nations said its humanitarian mission has discovered some 400 fresh graves of adults and children, who died very recently from hunger and disease in Rann, Kala/ Balge Local Government Area of Borno State. Nigerian scholar named Rhodes Professor at Oxford University

Oxford University has announced the appointment of a U.S.-based Nigerian, Professor Wale Adebanwi, to the prestigious Rhodes Professorship in Race Relations in the School of African and Interdisciplinary Area Studies. 5 suicide bombers die, kill 3 near Maiduguri

Five suicide bombers trying to infiltrate Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri have died in explosions that killed at least three civilians, police said Monday, blaming Boko Haram Islamic extremists. The Federal High Court leadership has redeployed 11 judges including – Justice Mohammed Liman in Port Harcourt and Justice Okon Abang in Abuja divisions.
