Boko Haram attacks Nigerian army base, five soldiers killed - military source

Five Nigerian soldiers and more than 15 Boko Haram fighters were killed when the jihadists attacked an army base in the remote northeast where the group has been fighting for an Islamic state, a military source said on Sunday. Boko Haram attacked an army brigade in Buni Yadi in Yobe state late on Saturday, an army spokesman said by text message, without giving a casualty figure. Niger state declares 3-day mourning for late ex-gov, Kure

Niger State government has officially announced the death of a former governor of the State, Engineer Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure. He died after a brief illness in a German Hospital in Germany on Sunday evening at the age of 61. Ex-Niger state Governor, Kure is dead

Former governor of Nigeria's North Central state, Niger, Eng. Abdulkadir Kure, is dead. He was aged 60. Kure was governor of Niger state on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 1999 and 2007. Kure, who has been ill and flown to Germany for medical attention, died today in a German hospital. He is survived by his wife, Senator Zainab Kure, who represented Niger state in the Senate of the Federal Republic between 2007 and 2015.

3 policemen killed, 2 missing in herdsmen attack in Adamawa

Adamawa Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of three Mobile Policemen and the disappearance of two others in an attack by suspected herdsmen in Demsa Local Government Area of the state. Civil Defence seals 13 fuel stations in Lagos

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, on Sunday said it had sealed up 13 fuel stations, for allegedly under dispensing petroleum products. General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday appointed a new General Overseer (GO) for the church as he retired ahead of his 75th birthday on 2 March.
